Job Scams in Pakistan: Fake Online Earning, Government Jobs and Overseas Work Offers
With high demand for work, job scams in Pakistan take three main forms. 'Online earning' scams on WhatsApp, Telegram and Facebook offer Rs 3,000–Rs 10,000 a day for liking videos, typing or 'investing' in an app, then demand deposits. Fake government job ads promise posts in WAPDA, PIA, Pakistan Railways or the police for a 'test fee' or bribe. And fraudulent overseas agents charge lakhs of rupees for Saudi Arabia, UAE, Qatar or Europe work visas that never come. Victims lose savings, and their CNIC and passport copies are often misused for other fraud.

Warning Signs of a Job Scam in Pakistan
- ⚠Online earning offer of Rs 3,000+ a day for simple tasks, with an 'activation' or 'account upgrade' fee paid via JazzCash or Easypaisa
- ⚠Government job 'confirmed' without a proper written test or interview, in exchange for a fee or 'sifarish' payment
- ⚠Overseas job agent is not a licensed Overseas Employment Promoter, or asks for full payment before you see a visa or protector stamp
- ⚠Recruiter communicates only through WhatsApp and asks for CNIC, passport and bank details at the first message
- ⚠Job ad uses a real company or ministry logo but a Gmail address or personal mobile number
How Does This Scam Work?
- 1You see an ad on Facebook, OLX, Telegram or WhatsApp, or receive an unsolicited job message
- 2The 'recruiter' offers quick selection with high pay and very little checking of your skills
- 3You're asked to pay an activation fee, test fee, 'medical', 'protector' or visa processing charge
- 4More fees follow — upgrade charges, ticket costs or 'final approval' payments
- 5The recruiter disappears; no job, visa or appointment letter ever materialises, and your documents may be misused
